For the last 17 months I have been the relatively happy use of an iPhone 3G on O2. I have made extension use of the device and it has become an integral part of my life. In principle, I would prefer to use an Android phone as I am more inclined to the open standards …
I have finally made the leap from Windows XP to Windows 7 for my home machine. I never bothered with Vista (although I did have to manage the development of a build including Virtual PCs running both XP and NT for a client) and did not get around to trying out the Windows 7 release …
There are a huge number of photography/photographer user groups on the web. These vary from the highly-generic (e.g. holiday pics) to the very specialist (e.g. macro photography of a particular subject matter using a particular lens/camera combination for example). How to control the page numbering in a Word document Article contributed by Bill Coan Word’s page numbering scheme isn’t directly obvious but it isn’t needlessly complex, either. Indirect might be a good term for it. Once you understand how it works, all sorts of possibilities open up. Unfortunately, the built-in tools that simplify the …
Apple have just introduced a new iPhone. I finally got around to buying one of these fairly recently on an 18 month contract (and my wife was so taken with it, we bought an iTouch for her on MY birthday – could not justify another iPhone subscription). I knew when I signed that there was …
The iPhone is brilliant but subscriptions are a little steep. The iTouch is pretty much the same device without the phone network connections (or a built in mic) and is just as good to use for most internet related activities provided you can find wifi access, which is pretty common now. The cost of some wifi services can be a bit too much to swallow though on an ad hoc basis (free access being rare). Subscription options are worth exploring. However, if you are a BT Broadband customer, there is a free option available that gives you up to 8 hours Openzone access a month.
Mobile phone companies are not to be trusted. You need to track contracts very carefully, give early notice of completion of contracts, and record all dealing with them. If you don’t they will take advantage.
Not a month goes by without a friend or relative asking for advice on what to do about speeding up their Windows PC. Got another one today and decided to blog my response when Facebook would not let me reply in full properly for reasons that still escape me. At least I can now refers others.
