We have often travelled the canals of Britain on narrow boats. We have done this just as a family and also with friends. One of our favourite trips is the Four Counties ring. This needs a good sized crew and good weather as you have to drive for around 7 hours a day on average to do this in a week.
The counties involved are:
- Shropshire
- Staffordshire
- Cheshire
- West Midlands
and the following canals are involved:
- Staffordshire and Worcester Canal, between Autherley Junction, Wolverhampton in the West Midlands to Haywood Junction, Great Haywood, in Staffordshire.
- Trent and Mersey Canal, between Haywood Junction and Middlewich in Cheshire.
- Shropshire Union Canal, involving the Middlewich Arm between Middlewich and Barbridge Junction, Wardle in Cheshire. The Barbridge Junction, Wardle, Cheshire and the Autherley Junction, in West Midlands.
